01 Apr Why Ventilation Matters
The importance of fresh air for your plants cannot be overstated. Good ventilation in your grow tent gives your plant the fresh breath that they need.
Plants use CO2 to make the food they need with photosynthesis. They need a constant supply of the CO2 or they can run out of fuel. To get a better understanding of how CO2 is used, please see a previous blog on that subject.
Ventilation is also important for temperature control of your tent. All grow lights produce some heat, even LED’s. Air circulation helps to keep the inside temperature from getting to high. This can help prevent your plants from getting stressed out and creating problems.
Proper ventilation can also help keep your tent’s humidity from getting too high. If your tent’s humidity remains high for extended periods of time it can increase your chances of getting mold on your plants. Plants that are in bloom are especially vulnerable, and it can be a balancing act.
Controlling the ventilation in your tent has been simplified with today’s modern inline fan systems. These fans will automatically change speeds according to preset parameters that are set for both humidity and temperature, and clean fresh air makes for happy plants!
